Half Life Level - Escape

A level made to fit within the Half-Life 2 campaign. This was a personal project to learn the Hammer editor and improve Level Design skills. 

  • I took inspiration from "Red Letter Day" the second level in valves game Half Life 2. I liked the limitations imposed by having a restricted arsenal and the sense of overwhelming power conveyed by the enemy Combine forces.

  • The players goal is to escape the Combine. The level sequence developed involves the player fighting through a crowded street, through a drained harbour, and into a sewer system with a secret bunker.

Level Design Concept

To aid with the creation of this level, I wanted to try a different approach to concepting I had discovered during research.
